With over 100 registrations or award upgrades, for a grand total of just under 10 million units, Impala’s latest batch of Sales Awards is one of its biggest ever.
The newest set of awards, part of Impala’s wider strategy to promote independent music, includes artists from across Europe, including Caro Emerald (Netherlands), Christine And The Queens (France), Oscar And The Wolf (Belgium) and Jamie XX (UK).
Since the last announcement in November 2014, Arctic Monkeys’ AM has doubled its sales to 1.6 million, and is now deserving of a Quadruple Platinum Award. DJ Snake receives a Double Platinum Award for his collaboration with US DJ/producer Diplo on the hit Lean On, while Platinum Awards go to Dutch singer Caro Emerald and German Punk band, NoRMAhl.
Some nominees for Impala’s European Album Of The Year accolade are also bestsellers, with Christine And The Queens reaching Platinum with album Chaleur Humaine. The British grime scene is represented by JME, who receives a Double Silver Award for the single Man Don’t Care feat. Giggs, and a Silver Award for his third album, Integrity.
Impala executive chair Helen Smith said: “This is an impressive list of awards. It’s great to see sales success for the Album Of The Year nominees, as well as labels featured in our Young Label Spotlight.”
