FAC interim CEO Imogen Heap is set to take on the newly created position of AIR-CEO (artist in residence, creative executive officer), as the organisation’s strategic redevelopment continues.
Heap will take on the new role as AIR-CEO once a full-time CEO has been appointed. The FAC is currently accepting applications for the role.
The successful applicant will lead the FAC’s fight for greater transparency and fairness within the music industry between artists and record labels, publishers and collection societies,” Heap said.
According to Heap, the role offers the chance to build a more prosperous marketplace for artists.
“It’s an opportunity to change things from the inside,” she told Music Week.
“It’s been an amazing year for the FAC. We’ve established ourselves as a force to be reckoned with and the new person will really be able to impact the role of artists.”
Last year the FAC made several strategic appointments. Sandie Shaw was named honorary president, while Blur’s Dave Rowntree and urban artist Lemar joined the board.
