Apple Music and iTunes unveil best of 2016 lists

Apple Music and iTunes have revealed their top selling and streamed singles and albums of the year.

The publication of Apple Music’s best of 2016 list follows today’s earlier announcement that the streaming company has now reached 20 million subscribers since launching 18 months ago. The firm also confirmed that it will continue to actively pursue artist exclusives as part of its offering.

Canadian artist Drake tops both Apple Music and iTunes’ top selling and streamed UK singles and albums lists. His song Once Dance, which spent 16 weeks atop the singles chart, was their most popular single, while album Views emerged as the most popular album. Apple Music also revealed its best album and best song according to its editorial staff, naming Skepta’s Konnichiwa as the best album of the year and Christine and the Queens’ Tilted as best song of the year.
