Decca Classics has announced the signing of Isata Kanneh-Mason.
The pianist joins her brother, cellist Sheku, on the label’s roster and will release debut album Romance on July 5.
Isata Kanneh-Mason said: “I am so excited to be recording this album with Decca Classics. I am really passionate about this music and hope that the album brings a wider range of people into the classical music audience!”
Dr Alexander Buhr, managing director of Decca Classics, commented: “Isata is an immensely talented pianist with remarkable musicality and a curious mind, always ready to explore new musical horizons.”
Isata Kanneh-Mason is a postgraduate student at the Royal Academy Of Music in London. Four of seven Kanneh-Mason siblings are currently studying and the Academy.
Romance will explore the life of Romantic-era pianist Clara Schumann and marks the 200th anniversary of Schumann’s birth.
Isata Kanneh-Mason started learning the piano aged six and has played in concert venues around the world, including a performance with Elton John. She is due to tour with Sheku this year.
