Primary Wave Music Publishing has appointed Jane Reisman as its new chief financial officer.
The hire of Reisman frees up Ramon Villa to focus on his duties as chief operating officer. As an early partner of the firm, he has served the dual role of CFO and COO.
Primary Wave has made a number of acquisitions so far this year including new signings Paul Anka, Leon Russell, DJ White Shadow, Carlie Hanson and Gaither Music Group. The company has a number of deals days away from closing.
Reisman brings over 25 years of finance, accounting leadership and music industry experience to Primary Wave. She will oversee all financial functions for the company including business planning, accounting, royalty processing, fund administration, reporting, audit and tax.
Reisman started her career with Ernst & Young. Later she spent 12 years with Sony Music, ultimately rising to head of finance for Epic Records. She was most recently founder and CEO of JPR Consulting.
With a full time focus as COO, Villa will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of Primary Wave's offices, focus on the deal and acquisition process and work with the company's in-house marketing and branding teams to help push forward a number of new IP initiatives on behalf of their publishing clients and assets.
Villa has been working alongside Cathy Schulman of Welle Entertainment and is spearheading the development process of a Glenn Gould bio pic.
"I am thrilled to be joining this impressive team of innovators to help expand the reach and influence of the music of so many iconic artists and songwriters," said Reisman. "I will draw upon years of experience to advance PW's use of technology to maximise its efforts and support its rapid growth, while maintaining the high bar that has been set by Ramon and the team. To be able to work with this company that values creativity, excellence and diversity is truly an honour."
"We are excited to have Jane join our executive team and family,” said Villa. “I am personally joyed to have another set of strong, capable and caring hands to help manage our company of creative assets and partnerships exponentially growing every day.”
"Ramon has been a tremendous partner and confident over the last 13 years,” said Lawrence Mestel, CEO and founder. “I'm thrilled to see him stepping into his role as chief operating officer full time where he will continue to be an asset to Primary Wave.
"Both Ramon and I are extremely pleased to have Jane join the Primary Wave family as our new CFO. She has been a long-time friend to the team here at Primary Wave and her vast industry experience will be an immense asset to our company."
