Sub Pop has hired Gareth Smith as director of A&R for its publishing division.
Responsible for all day to day activities of Sub Pop’s publishing roster, Smith will report directly to Tony Kiewel, VP of A&R.
Smith previously held positions at Big Deal Music in Los Angeles, as worldwide VP, film and TV, and at Chrysalis/ BMG Chrysalis in London (VP, synch and marketing) where he was credited with helping to sign The Rolling Stones to their first publishing deal since the '70s.
Kiewel commented: "It’s taken us a long time to find someone with not only a deep knowledge of this business but also with a high tolerance for hi jinx. Needless to say we’re very grateful to have found all that and more with Gareth Smith and we're incredibly excited to see how Sub Pop Publishing will now grow with his insights and assistance."
