The UK & European Guild of Music Supervisors has hailed the “fantastic” Music Week Sync Awards as the industry prepares for this year’s event.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 19 in London at 8 Northumberland Avenue and will be hosted by BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Shaun Keaveny. Sync Awards tickets are now extremely limited. Book now to avoid disappointment at www.syncawards.com or email Johanna O’Brien on jobrien@nbmedia.com.
Launched in April, the UK & European Guild of Music Supervisors is dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of the role of a music supervisor within the entertainment industries including film, television, gaming, advertising, trailers, interactive media and theatre. The organisation for sync professionals has signed up as an official partner for the awards.
“We are delighted to be media partners for this year’s Music Week Sync Awards,” said Iain Cooke, freelance music supervisor and president of the UK & European Guild of Music Supervisors. “We were consulted early on regarding potential ways to enhance previous years’ successful awards. As part of this we added in a Games category to commend those working within this ever-growing sector. We also added a Best Overall Soundtrack award for both TV series and film, honouring the supervisor and key creatives in shaping the overall soundtrack to sit alongside the individual sync awards.
“In addition we suggested adding two other new new awards in the partnership category - Best Branded Entertainment and Best Social Media/Online Partnership.”
You can read the first wave of finalists here and the second shortlist here. This year's event attracted a record-breaking number of entries.
Cooke added: “We look forward to another fantastic evening where the whole of the sync community come together and celebrate all the many creative and commercial successes of the past year."
This year’s event will also be supported by platinum partner Tape London.
“It’s all about the music and the people behind the music,” said Zues Sherlock of Tape London nightclub. “We at Tape want to encourage, inspire and award new creative collaborations.”
PRS For Music is the event partner, while Believe Sync has come on board as official music partner. London Sync Sessions is also a media partner.
