Special 60th anniversary edition of Music Week out now

The new issue of Music Week is a very special edition, as we celebrate our 60th birthday with the help of the biz.

We gather a host of the most significant industry figures from the last 60 years, including current major label bosses Sir Lucian Grainge, Rob Stringer and Max Lousada, to talk about their favourite memories of the magazine.

We also look back, decade by decade, at the defining moments and stories from the 1950s to the present day that have helped shape the music business as we know it.

Also inside, a selection of former Music Week editors return to tell us – in their own words – about their time in the hotseat.

Back to the present day and this week's Big Story looks at Lewis Capaldi's bid to build on his Grammys nomination as Capitol target US album growth for 2020 and EMI's domestic campaign gathers renewed pace.

Elsewhere, Manners McDade MD Harriet Moss looks forward to a new era for the film and TV publisher, while UMC co-MD Richard Hinkley explains why Q4 is only the start for the label’s Frozen 2 soundtrack campaign.

In hitmakers, songwriting royalty Don Black continues the diamond anniversary theme by talking us through the making of the classic James Bond theme Diamonds Are Forever for Shirley Bassey, while former Virgin Records boss and all-round music biz legend Jon "Webbo" Webster shares a few war stories in The Aftershow.

In On The Radar we catch up with New York-based singer/songwriter Okay Kaya, Scruff Of The Neck Records label manager Mitch Page is our latest Rising Star and BBC Music Introducing presenter Sarah Gosling is this week's Tastemaker. One-time American Idol contestant Scarypoolparty is Making Waves, while the partnership between Simple Minds and Argos is explored in Sync Story.

Plus, there’s all our usual news, analysis, charts coverage and market share statistics.

The issue is available now in all good UK newsagents. To secure your copy of this very special print edition, please email Rachael Hampton on rachael.hampton@futurenet.com. To subscribe to Music Week and never miss a vital music biz story, click here.
