Global have appointed Chris Baughen as the managing editor of its Global Player.
Baughen, who was previously VP for content and productions at Deezer, will lead the editorial development of the media company's app which allows users to download shows from stations including Heart, Capital, Smooth, Classic FM, Radio X, LBC, Capital XTRA and Gold for offline listening.
"As the streaming business continues to grow, providing a greater choice of audio entertainment, Chris’ wealth of knowledge and music industry experience will be a huge asset as we continue to develop the Global Player," said Global's group programming operations director Gareth Andrews.
"We are thrilled to have Chris back on board in a leading role at Global.”
Baughen previously worked at Global, serving as managing editor at Radio X when the station was relaunched in 2015. He had previously worked at Capital as executive producer.
“Global have repeatedly proven themselves to be market leaders and visionaries when it comes to audio and digital entertainment," said Baughen, who takes up his new role in January.
"The development of the Global Player exemplifies Global’s passion and ambition to constantly innovate. I can’t wait to start working with the team to deliver a truly ground-breaking product.”
Global recently announced it would bring its awards event back for a second year in 2019, having just staged its annual Capital Jingle Bell Ball at the O2 Arena in London.
