The Music Venue Trust has announced TicketWeb as the headline sponsor for Venues Day 2016.
The deal marks the next step for the existing partnership between the charity and Live Nation-owned TicketWeb, which has the mutual aim of protecting, preserving and improving the UK’s grassroots music venues.
Venues Day 2016 will take place at Camden’s Roundhouse on Tuesday, October 18, bringing together representatives from small, independent venues from across the country. Creating a forum to discuss the continued challenges for the sector, to share news of advances being made and to connect venues with people and organisations keen to help them in the forthcoming year.
Music Venue Trust CEO Mark Davyd (pictured) said: “Venues Day provides an invaluable opportunity for grassroots music venues to get together, share expertise and plan for the future. There is still a lot of work to do but Venues Day 2016 marks an important opportunity to take stock of achievements and announce priorities for the following year.”
TicketWeb has previously teamed up with the British Music Embassy to showcase the best new British talent at SXSW, held a new music showcase at The Great Escape, and been chief sponsors of the 2016 Scottish Album of the Year Awards. The firm also recently announced it was to partner with local UK promoters to showcase the best emerging live talent to fans across the country.
“Independent live music is what we’re all about, and grassroots music venues are the backbone of the industry,” added TicketWeb MD Sam Isles. “With these venues emerging acts have a place to shine, and fans have a place to discover amazing new music. This is why we passionately support Music Venue Trust and look forward to sponsoring Venues Day.”
