Live music returned to the grounds of Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath for the first time in five years.
Held over two weekends, the Heritage Live Concert Series At Kenwood House featured a diverse mix of acts including Haçienda Classical, Alfie Boe, Lightning Seeds, Bootleg Beatles, Kris Kristofferson and The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, prior to Last Night Of The Kenwood Proms with Katherine Jenkins.
A repositioning of the stage set up at Kenwood from concerts in previous years meant that attendees were stood with Kenwood House overlooking them as they looked onwards towards the live music.
Promoter Giles Cooper of GCE Live said: “The concerts were a resounding success with all of the artist’s performances being truly outstanding and coupled with absolutely first-class production. Kenwood is not the easiest of sites to stage concerts, particularly in this era of heightened security and our decision to not allow food or drink to be brought into the arena was not the most popular, but was a decision taken as a direct result of the threat level in the UK still being rated as ‘severe’, and unfortunately a necessity in this uncertain and sometimes dangerous world that we live in today.
"Positioning the stage as we did and using the speaker systems we did, minimised disturbance to local residents hugely and lessons have been learnt in how best to use different parts of the site. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the artists and the thousands of people that attended the concerts this year and very much look forward to returning in 2019.”
The programme for the 2019 series will be announced later this year.
