Paul Weller been honoured for being the No.1 selling artist of the annual Forest Live concert series since its inception in 2001.
Forest Live is promoted by the Forestry England at woodland locations across the country, with money raised from ticket sales helping to look after the nation’s forests sustainably.
Weller, who recently completed a summer run of dates with a performance in Cannock Chase Forest, Staffordshire, made his Forest Live debut at five venues in 2004. He has since returned three times to each of the seven forests that form part of the tour, selling more than 145,000 tickets in total.
Forestry England event manager Simon Hough said: “As our No 1 selling artist, we are extremely grateful to Paul for the massive contribution he has made over the years in his commitment to be a part of Forest Live and this is reflected in the continual popularity of his performances by a very loyal fan base.”
Forestry England presented Weller with a commemorative inscription carved out of oak burr taken from Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the Forest Live venues.
Weller said: “It’s an honour to receive this plaque. I’ve loved playing the forest shows; the settings and crowds are always fantastic. Thanks to David Barrow and Forestry England for looking after us so well. Nice one!”
