Paul McCartney begins reacquiring Beatles back catalogue
Paul McCartney has begun the process of reacquiring the rights to his own back catalogue, thanks to the US Copyright Act of 1976. The act allows writers to reclaim their songs from publishers, with songs written before 1978 reclaimable 56 years after initial release. The Lennon catalogue will be reclaimable starting 2018.
