Glastonbury festival to take year off in 2018

Glastonbury's next fallow year will be in 2018, it has been confirmed.

The festival takes a fallow year every few years in order to give the farm, the village and the festival team a year off. Glastonbury's most recent fallow year was in 2012.

Despite previous speculation of a new festival in Longleat, organisers said there are no plans to hold an event at another location.

Glastonbury 2017 takes place from June 21-25. General admission tickets go on sale on October 9 and will cost £238, plus a £5 booking fee. Children under 12 do not need a ticket and are admitted free of charge.

Registration closes on October 3. Coach and ticket packages are available from October 6. Muse, Adele and Coldplay headlined this year's event.
