Rotterdam Ahoy CEO Peter van der Veer has been elected as the new president of the European Arenas Association (EAA).
Co-owner of the Dutch venue, Van der Veer (pictured) has been part of the EAA since 2006 and an active board member since 2012. He was elected president during the group's general meeting, held in Lisbon earlier this month. He succeeds AEG Europe's Brian Kabatznick, who recently ended his three-year term in the role.
"Our world changes in rapid speed," he said. "It requires a new view from us as venues. I am convinced that a platform as EAA is essential in sharing ideas, in pulling the strings, in being pro-active on all important and relevant issues in the field of live events. I am honoured to have been chosen as president of this valuable platform.”
The EAA comprises 35 arena members in 22 European countries to share knowledge and create best practice among the industry. In 2017, its venues saw more than 18.7 million customers attending 2,899 events across the membership.
