Bethnal Green’s Metropolis is relaunching this week as a LGBTQ+ venue under new creative directors East Creative.
East Creative will programme a calendar of both live and club events following the success of its weekly party Savage, which has been a venue staple since 2015. The event management company also founded queer events Sink The Pink and Mighty Hoopla festival.
Metropolis will relaunch on Thursday (April 19) with acts including DJ Heidi, Artwork, Nimmo, Jonjo Jury and Joshua James.
Co-founders Jamie Tagg and Glyn Fussell (pictured) said: “East Creative at Metropolis feels a very natural fit. We’ve built our company on supporting the creative community and specifically LGBTQ+ people in East London, with venues being closed all the time it feels great to be able to provide a new space for them all.”
Metropolis’ five-floor metamorphosis includes a new rooftop, Martin Audio soundsystem and refreshed décor; a neon-clad playground to host everything from comedy and cabaret to club-nights and live gigs.??
The East Creative team has grown Sink The Pink into London’s biggest alternative club night. Its 15,000-capacity Mighty Hoopla pop festival, meanwhile, will bring the likes of Lily Allen, TLC, Melanie C and Belinda Carlisle to Brockwell Park on June 3.
