Returning for its fourth year, the 2016 Coffee House Sessions will once again look to showcase up and coming talent by providing a platform for artist to perform in front of a ‘dedicated tastemaker audience’.
The acoustic tour circuit was launched by Coalition Talent in 2013 as a response to the disappearance of traditional live music nights on university campuses.
Curated by BBC Introducing’s Abbie McCarthy, the sessions have also gained support from Sony, Warner Music and Universal. The sessions have toured more than 60 artists, delivering over 2,600 performances. Previous Coffee House Sessions' artists include BRIT nominee Izzy Bizu, Ady Suleiman, The Shires and The Carnabys.
The first artist to tour this academic year is Tom Walker, who recently signed to Sony's Relentless Records and has been hailed by the likes of Pigeons & Planes, Clash, BBC Radio1, BBC 1Xtra and Beats1 as a talent to watch.
McCarthy commented: “Coffee House Sessions have got it spot on. It’s a great platform for brand new and emerging artists.”
