Media and entertainment platform CAA China has named Mary Gu Shuhang as CEO.
CAA China was formed in April by leading talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in partnership with investment fund CMC Capital Partners (CMC).
Gu (pictured) will look to build upon CAA’s 12 years of experience in the region to further its efforts in sports services, branded content, live events, television, and music touring, while continuing to foster its market-leadership in motion pictures and film finance throughout Greater China. She will also work closely with Jonah Greenberg, who continues to lead CAA China’s efforts in motion pictures, and Roeg Sutherland, Co-Head of CAA’s Global Film Finance and Sales Group, and Daniel Manwaring, who spearhead the agency’s film finance efforts in the market.
“I have tremendous respect for the business CAA has built in China, and am honoured to join CAA China, under the visionary leadership of Richard Lovett and Li Ruigang, at this very important moment in the company’s growth plan," said Gu. "I look forward to utilizing my network of relationships and in-market experience to help create new opportunities for the agency and our clients in an array of new business areas, while working closely with Jonah, Roeg, and the team to continue to nurture our thriving motion picture business throughout the region.”
Gu comes to CAA China from the Special Olympics International, where she most recently was regional president and MD, East Asia. Previously, she was VP of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games executive committee.
CAA president Richard Lovett said: “Now, we are moving into the next stage of our strategic growth plan for CAA China. Mary will accelerate this momentum using her expertise and network of relationships to further diversify our capabilities and reach in sports and entertainment throughout the region.”
