BRITs Week 24 For War Child has raised £430,000 from this year’s series of 13 shows which took place across the UK in February and March, with all proceeds going towards War Child’s work to help children whose lives have been affected by war. It takes the amount raised for War Child by BRITs Week, since its inception in 2009, to over £7,430,000.
Produced by AEG Presents, BPI and War Child – the charity for children affected by conflict – Brits Week For War Child gives audiences the opportunity to see one-off performances from both breaking and established acts, and this year the radio partners were Bauer Media Audio UK.
This year’s BRITs Week shows took place around The BRIT Awards 2024 with Mastercard in March, and the lineup saw The Last Dinner Party, Cian Ducrot, You Me At Six, Keane, Ash, Baby Queen, Aitch, Pendulum, Aurora, Gabriels, Sleaford Mods, CMat and Venbee play shows across the country.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to all our partners, the artists and everyone who bought a ticket to BRITs Week 2024,” said Clare Sanders-Wright, live music lead at War Child. “War Child’s work is needed now more than ever, and the money raised will significantly impact the lives of thousands of children. Every day, our local teams are in communities and refugee camps creating safe spaces for children to play, learn and access psychological support. We also respond rapidly to emergency crises, delivering immediate and critical care impartially to those who need us most, when they need us most. Thank you once again for helping us to continue our vital work.”
Maggie Crowe OBE, BPI events director, commented: “BRITs Week is one of my favourite times of the year. Not only are we privileged to enjoy a diverse array of artists give memorable performances in intimate venues around the country, but we consistently raise huge amounts to support the vital work of War Child, which is needed more than ever. It’s the power of music writ large. My heartfelt thanks to all the artists and their record labels and teams, the fans and, of course, our valued partners led by AEG and War Child, who make it all possible and each year help to make BRITs Week that bit more special.”
Simon Jones, senior vice president, Live Music International, AEG added: “It’s heartwarming and humbling to know that BRITs Week has been able to continue to contribute such valuable funds for War Child for what is now going on a decade! This staggering amount of money raised in 2024 will go to incredible use at such an important time for War Child, and goes to show what can be done when the industry comes together to support it. Thank you to all the artists, managers and labels for continuing to believe in BRITs Week.”
