Silva Screen Music Group has acquired rock label A Wolf At Your Door Records, in a deal that includes catalogue by Mallory Knox and Lower Than Atlantis. It will be relaunched as a frontline label alongside So Recordings (Deaf Havana, Fenech-Soler).
As part of the deal, Silva Screen has recruited former label manager Leo Nicholas. “Wolf played a huge part in launching my career, it’s where I learned the business,” he told Music Week.
“When it was acquired by Silva Screen, it soon became clear that we shared the same vision for the label: to develop the next wave of great domestic rock artists.”
Nicholas’ first signing is The LaFontaines, whose album Common Problem is released on October 27.
“The Silva Screen acquisition allows Wolf to not only incubate new talent but remain in partnership as their careers grow,” said Nicholas.
“Ultimately, we want what all labels want – to break bands – and we now have the infrastructure, team and ambition to support this.”
Adam Greenup of Silva Screen added: “We picked up some important albums when we acquired the label, and are now actively working with the bands and management to promote these older works.”
