Former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher has signed to Warner Bros. Records UK, part of Warner Music Group, to release his debut solo album.
The label, under Phil Christie’s leadership, will release the record in 2017.
Gallagher commented: "Very excited to be signing to the mighty Warner Brothers. Looking forward to making some super sweet sounds. Keep the faith!"
Phil Christie, president, Warner Bros. Records UK, added: “Liam’s one of the all-time greats - brilliant, distinctive, controversial and captivating.
“The album he’s currently recording is big, bold and heartfelt, and it feels important and culturally relevant. It’s great to be working with Liam, Debbie and UROK on such a strong return for one of the UK’s most loved artists.”
Max Lousada, chairman and CEO, Warner Music UK, said: “I’m proud to welcome Liam to the WMG family and delighted that he chose to make Warner Bros. Records his new home. It’s an iconic label for iconic artists and, under Phil’s leadership, it has all the energy, drive and ambition to take Liam into the next chapter of his remarkable career.”
Meanwhile, Sam Eldridge, UROK Management, said: “Liam is one of the greatest singers, front men and artists of all time. No one combines passion, danger and a genuine emotional connection to an audience like him. There is truly no artist we could be more proud to be working, alongside Debbie Gwyther, and no home better to launch this next chapter of his career than our friends at WB under Phil and Max. "
