HMV will be launching a specially curated range of 1921 Centenary Series limited edition vinyl in stores and online on July 24.
The music industry will be joining in the celebrations of HMV’s 100th birthday in July.
The HMV 1921 Centenary Series is a carefully curated collection of some of the chain’s favourite albums from the past 100 years and will be presented in HMV exclusive limited-edition packaging.
The retailer’s vinyl Exclusives Day on July 24 will see the first 30 HMV 1921 Centenary vinyl limited-edition releases go on sale in store and online. Further additions to the series are being released throughout the centenary year.
The albums that form part of the series are being announced throughout June in the run-up to the big event. Vinyl fans can register for updates.
HMV has refocused on vinyl in recent years and holds a vinyl week event.
Since reopening stores in England, Wales and Scotland after the latest lockdown, HMV has seen strong footfall, with vinyl titles from artists such as Lana Del Rey and Ariana Grande proving strong draws for shoppers.
Phil Halliday, MD at HMV and Fopp, said: “Vinyl is no longer a niche interest: we’re seeing more and more shoppers of all ages investing in vinyl records across multiple genres.
“Both new vinyl collectors and long-time vinyl fans will be delighted by the exclusives we’ve managed to secure for later in the year as part of our exciting 100th birthday celebrations.”
The HMV event follows Record Store Day’s second vinyl drop on July 17.
