Tributes have poured in for hugely popular live music promoter Chris York, who has died aged 55 following a long illness.

York, a key figure at Manchester-based SJM, was a mainstay of the live scene for more than three decades.

Many artists have acknowledged his contribution to their careers – in some cases taking then from club venues to arenas and stadiums.
