Vevo appoints Joseph Patel as VP of original content

Vevo has announced that Joseph Patel has joined the company's New York office as VP of original content.

Patel (pictured), who most recently served as VP of content and creative at music and lifestyle magazine The FADER, will be responsible for driving the strategy and execution of Vevo’s original programming as the company looks to embark on an ambitious strategy for content creation in 2017.

“Joseph brings incredible experience and a proven track record of success in music and television to Vevo,” said Tom Connaughton, Vevo's SVP, creative content and programming. “As we continue to transform our output, he brings a creative lens and will play an integral role in audience engagement and growth through the creation of compelling, high-quality original content.”

At The FADER, Patel executive produced a content slate that included documentaries, scripted shorts, music videos, festival livestreams and social media. During his time with the company, Joseph and his team increased traffic by 380% and increased video views for original and co-branded content by nearly 700%.

Prior to joining New York-based The FADER, he held leadership roles in content and programming at MTV News and Vice Media, where he supervised TV franchises for MTV and HBO.
