TikTok has racked up more than 1.5 billion downloads on the App Store and Google Play.
It has increased from a total of one billion downloads to 1.5bn in just nine months. In February, TikTok hit the 1bn milestone, an increase from 500 million in just over seven months.
According to mobile insights firm Sensor Tower, TikTok is currently the third most downloaded non-gaming app of the year with 614m downloads. It lags behind WhatsApp at No.1 and Messenger at No.2, though is ahead of Facebook and Instagram.
India has been the main driver of TikTok downloads, followed by China and the US. Based on spending within the app, Chinese users come out on top ($84.5m, 48.3% of revenue), followed by the US (35.7%) and the UK (3.9%).
The data has emerged as TikTok parent ByteDance is set to launch a music streaming service.
