Spotify has today (August 8) announced that the service will be made available on Xbox One in 34 markets around the world. The new integration allows users to personalise their gaming experience by curating their own soundtracks. Gamers will be able to play their saved music, pre-made gaming playlists or Spotify’s catalogue of 30 million tracks while in game.
Speaking about the change, Mikael Ericsson, product director of platform and partner experience at Spotify. said: "Music continues to be essential when creating the ultimate gaming experience. Starting today, we’re really excited to offer Xbox One gamers the ability to choose their own unique soundtrack while enjoying their favourite games."
Spotify will be available to both free and Premium Spotify subscribers, who can browse pre-curated gaming playlists, such as Epic Gaming and Power Gaming in Spotify’s Gaming hub. Users can also control their playback without interrupting their game by using Spotify Connect, which allows gamers to pause, skip or select new music wirelessly on the Xbox directly in the Spotify app.
