Spotify is the official music partner of The X Factor 2016.
Launched during the ITV talent show’s first live broadcasts over the weekend (October 8, 9), the partnership is supported by Spotify’s official X Factor hub, which went live on Saturday evening.
As well as the contestants’ performances and ‘Originals’ playlists in line with each week’s theme, the hub will house exclusive recordings by contestants. It can be found via the Spotify homepage on mobile and desktop. The aspiring stars’ songs will not be available on iTunes.
The hook up will see Spotify feature across X Factor properties on TV, mobile and online. It is also integrated into the official X Factor app, where fans will be able to hear 30-second track previews and save the music to their personal playlists.
Spotify will update its X Factor content on a rolling weekly basis reflecting the outcome of each episode, and will create related playlists in the run-up to the live final.
Over the weekend, it emerged via social media that contestant Honey G’s version of Tupac’s California Love appeared on Spotify before it had aired on television.
The X Factor continues on ITV on Saturday.
