Midem has announced a shared keynote between Ben Schwerin, VP of partnerships at Snap Inc, and Geffen Records president Neil Jacobson.
The pair will discuss music in relation to Snapchat at the conference on June 6.
Their keynote will explore the platform’s approach to working with artists and labels, and explain how Snapchat’s music experience drives global discovery.
“We are very excited to host this shared keynote to explore how the recording industry can forge new partnerships with social media to reach audiences and drive growth,” said Alexandre Deniot, director of Midem. “Many music artists are now using Snapchat to communicate with their fans, and the company’s support for popular artists can drastically improve their brand’s reputation.”
Snapchat has 187 million daily active users.
Schwerin has been VP of partnerships at Snap Inc, Snapchat’s parent company, since 2015. He is responsible for the group’s global strategic partnerships in sports, music, entertainment and politics.
Jacobson was appointed President of Geffen Records in spring 2017. The label’s current roster includes DJ Snake, AlunaGeorge, Lil Jon and Mura Masa.
Midem takes place in Cannes from 5-8 June.
