Apple Music has launched the Shazam Discovery Top 50, a weekly global ranking of 50 artists on the move and their trending track.
Using Shazam's proprietary algorithms, the new chart offers a predictive view on rising artists and reacting tracks to Apple Music subscribers. The No.1 in the inaugural chart is All Roads Lead Home (Hobbs & Shaw remix) by Ohana Bam.
The ranked songs are all at different points in their lifecycle and the majority of artists represented are new and emerging. Tracks in the Discovery Top 50 are experiencing a momentum – whether moving quickly through Shazam’s charts, growing rapidly and geographically – that indicates potential to make a mark in the overall Top 50.
Apple Music’s Shazam Discovery Top 50 ranks songs that are trending in the UK and more than 10 countries. Artists from additional countries will be featured soon.
The new chart is updated every Tuesday and exclusively available to stream on Apple Music.
A series of UK Shazam records were recently broken as users employed the recognition app during the sync-heavy Love Island.
The app’s insights are also key to the new Apple Music For Artists platform, as Shazam is often a first route to music discovery.
Apple said that there are around 20 million Shazams each day and more than one billion total downloads of the app.
