Soccer and the music industry have long been brand bedfellows, as revealed in our recent feature on bands linking with football clubs. The Rolling Stones are the latest act to ink a deal with a football club: the band and French club Paris Saint-Germain have collaborated on an exclusive apparel collection to celebrate the Stones’ No Filter European tour.
The clothing range will be available at Parisian boutique Colette when the band’s No Filter tour calls at the city’s U Arena. (October 19-25). The artwork was designed by French artist Speedy Graphito.
The French football club teased the partnership at its match against Bordeaux at Parc des Princes with a special in-stadium playlist that honoured The Rolling Stones.
PSG will also engage fans with social competitions to win VIP tickets for a Stones concert and the team’s match against Nice.
The PSG initiative is part of a multi-brand range – including a capsule collection by Mike Amiri, a limited edition notebook collection by Moleskine and Rolling Stones vinyl – created in partnership with Universal’s merchandise company Bravado.
Warner Music recently told Music Week how a Gorillaz link-up with Chelsea gave the band “incredible new reach”.
Earlier this month the music industry was out in force for the Legends Of Football charity event.
