Meet this week’s hottest brand new act… Grace Carter
KEY TRACK: Silhouette
LABEL: Polydor
MANAGEMENT: Tap Management
TWITTER: @itsgracecarter
WHO: Grace Carter is a 20-year-old singer and songwriter from Brighton. Signed to Tap Management (Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa), she recently released an EP called Saving Grace.
WHAT: Soul, R&B, piano-led pop… whatever you call it, Carter’s music appears to be aimed squarely at radio playlists and, more specifically, the solar plexus. These are classic, emotional songs to take the breath away and quicken the pulse.
WHERE: Carter grew up in Brighton.
SOUNDS IMPRESIVE…You said it. On last year’s Silence single and the new EP, Carter’s vocals are strong and brutally emotional.
WHAT’S THE STORY? Carter learned guitar as a teen, and has been writing ever since. Ashes, from the EP, was produced by Beyoncé collaborator Mike Dean. Tap could be onto something big.
AND WHAT’S NEXT? Carter plays Bestival this week, and tours the UK in October. New track Why Her Not Me drops this month.
