Just two weeks after Ed Sheeran shook the music world with the surprise double drop of Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill we have another UK star looking to capitalise on a simultaneous single release.
This time it’s Tinie Tempah, who has announce the release of new tracks Text From Your Ex and Chasing Flies.
Available now on Disturbing London/Parlophone, the two tracks offer two very different sounds in a bid to draw a wider pool of listeners. Text From Your Ex features US R&B star Tinashe and delivers a classic Tinie sound, while Chasing Flies offers a slowburning change of pace. It also features up and coming Swedish artist Nea. Both tracks are taken from Tempah’s upcoming third album Youth.
The double release strategy has certainly worked wonders for Sheeran, who currently dominates the No.1 and No.2 spots on the UK singles chart with Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill respectively. Both tracks are distinctly diverse in sound, picking up multiple audiences as a result.
One week after releasing the new tracks, Sheeran become the first artist to enter the singles chart at No.1 and No.2 simultaneously.
After outselling the rest of the UK singles chart Top 20 combined, Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill, from new album ÷ (released March 3), debuted at No.1 and No.2 respectively.
