And, in what was a banner year for UK music internationally, four of the top ten albums were from UK artists, with Leona Lewis's Sprit at six and Amy Winehouse's Back To Black at seven.
Lewis also features in 2008's best-selling digital single tracks, with Bleeding Love at four.
As previously reported, Lil' Wayne's Lollipop was the year's biggest download.
