Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has announced the signing of songwriter-producer-composer Asa Taccone to an exclusive global administration agreement.
The lead singer and the main songwriter for his band Electric Guest, Taccone co-wrote and co-produced the No.1 hit Feel It Still, which earned rock band Portugal The Man a 2018 Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. He has also written and produced songs for Charlotte Gainsbourg, Melvv and Amine.
Since 2005, Taccone has written and produced music for Saturday Night Live’s Digital Shorts, and has also penned music for Lady Gaga’s episode on The Simpsons, Kanye West’s episode on The Cleveland Show and Charles Bradley’s episode on American Dad.
“I’m very lucky to have anyone interested in me so big shout out to David Gray and Universal Music Publishing. Thank you times 10,” said Taccone, who also composed the music for Broadway’s Bridge & Tunnel, which earned the 2006 Special Tony Award.
The UMPG deal excludes France and Benelux.
