Warner Music Group has submitted a settlement for a download royalty rate lawsuit filed by artists.
The case claims the plaintiffs were entitled to be paid on a licensing basis instead of a royalty basis for download and mastertones.
An artist royalty rate can range from 6% to about 20% while a licensing basis means splitting revenues with the artist or paying 50% of net revenues.
