Top of the Pops re-runs saved by public demand

The BBC considered dropping Top of the Pops re-runs following the Jimmy Savile scandal but the notion was quashed due to public demand.

Showings of the archived TOTP shows were postponed in October last year while the Savile issue was still "live" and BBC4 controller Richard Klein has since said that the channel was considering cutting the shows but ‘overwhelming public demand’ led them to keep broadcasting the episodes.
