With only two debuts in the Top 10 (The Arctic Monkeys and McFly) and two more in the 11-20 section of the chart (Dannii Minogue and Love Bites), it's no surprise that singles sales dipped last week, writes Alan Jones.
They held up better than expected, with a decline of just 4% to 882,978, their lowest level for seven weeks, as physical singles sales fell 10.5% to 318,745 but downloads improved marginally - by 0.03% - to 564,233.
