Pop music accounted for the majority of records sold in the Official Albums, Singles and Compilations Charts in 2014, announced the BPI today.
The figures, based on Official Charts Company data, show that releases from Ed Sheeran (pictured), Sam Smith, Paolo Nutini and Paloma Faith helped pop to steal the crown from rock, boosting its share of albums sales to more than a third (34.5%) in the UK.
