The European Court of Justice has ruled that technology companies do not need to compensate copyright-holders when private copies of legally acquired music or films are made on their devices.
The judgment was made following a Danish case brought against Nokia by Copydan, in which backdated payment was requested from Nokia for including memory cards with devices that were shipped from 2004 to 2009.
