A US jury in Virginia has found internet service provider Cox Communications guilty of copyright infringement and ordered the company to pay plaintiff BMG $25 million in damages.
BMG sued Cox — one of the country’s largest ISPs -- in November 2014, on the grounds that the company was not reacting swiftly enough when notified that some of its clients were infringing BMG’s copyrights. BMG had been using the services of Rightscorp to identify infringers and notify Cox of cases. ...
