It has been confirmed that The BRIT Awards with Mastercard will take place at The O2 on Wednesday, February 21. The 38th edition of the awards will again be broadcast by ITV, and overseen by BPI and BRIT Awards chief executive Geoff Taylor and Jason Iley, BRITs chairman and CEO/chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland.
The 2017 awards broadcast reached 6.8 million viewers, alongside 1.7 million for the nominations show in January. It resulted in a significant ‘BRITs bounce’ for performers Little Mix, Bruno Mars, Emeli Sandé, Katy Perry, Skepta, The Chainsmokers & Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams, and The 1975.
Also significant was a review of the Voting Academy, which resulted in greater diversity among last year’s nominees, while grime artists Skepta and Stormzy performed. The night also included a moving tribute to George Michael.
