BBC Radio 1 has revamped its weekend schedule and signed up new presenters Maya Jama and Jordan North.
Jama, who hosted the red carpet for the BRITs nominations show on ITV, joins the network to present Radio 1’s Greatest Hits on Saturdays (10am-1pm). She will also co-host with Scott Mills and Chris Stark each Friday from 1pm-4pm.
Jama’s previous presenting jobs include MTV, 4 Music, Channel 4, ITV, Sky Arts and Rinse FM.
She said: “I’m so happy to be presenting alongside Scott Mills on Fridays. I'm sure I can learn a thing or two from him and I'm beyond excited to have my own show on Radio 1 every Saturday, I cannot wait to start!”
Matt Edmondson takes on the weekend 1-4pm show, and on Saturdays he will be joined by a monthly celebrity co-host.
Following multiple stints as a presenting duo in 2017, Dev and Women In Music Awards presenter Alice Levine will join forces to co-host Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast show (6am-10am). The show launches on March 17.
Jordan North joins the network to present Radio 1’s Greatest Hits on Sundays (10am-1pm). He has hosted shows Rock FM, The Hits and Capital Manchester. The new weekend schedule kicks off on 24 February.
Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper said: “It’s brilliant to welcome the next generation of superstars to Radio 1.”
