Amazon Music has partnered with the Music Week Women In Music Awards, with the digital company backing the Music Champion category at this year’s event.
The fifth edition of the Music Week Women In Music Awards takes place this Friday (November 9), and will celebrate the achievements of brilliant artists and executives from across the industry.
Last year, Clara Amfo of BBC Radio 1 was named Music Champion.
“We believe music is powerful. That it can bring people together and be a force for change,” said Amazon Music in a statement.
“That is exactly what the Music Champion award is all about. It’s important to us that we’re recognising women who are helping publicly promote the music industry in a positive light, as well as using music to drive inclusion, education and improvement.”
Alongside the Music Champion Award, all the regular Women In Music Awards categories return, including Businesswoman Of The Year, Inspirational Artist, Campaigner, Rising Star, Music Champion, New Artist Award, International Woman Of The Year – won by Kobalt's Sas Metcalfe last time out – and The Company Award.
This year marks the debut of a new category of Music Creative, to be awarded to a woman in the UK industry who has made a significant contribution to the making of music behind the scenes through songwriting, studio production or studio technology.
The full list of categories can be viewed here.
Friday’s ceremony also celebrates the 2018 Women In Music Roll Of Honour, who star in the current issue of Music Week, out now.
BBC Radio 1’s Alice Levine returns as host for this year’s show and all tickets are sold out.
