Jack White’s Third Man Records celebrated its seventh anniversary in historic style over the weekend, completing the first ever successful mission to play a vinyl record in space.
To mark the anniversary, White sent a spacecraft , dubbed the Icarus Craft, into space with a “space proof” turntable attached. The record in question was Carl Sagan’s A Glorious Dawn.
As part of the celebrations, Third Man Records hosted special parties at both its Cass Corridor and Nashville location, where attendees were able to watch footage of the pre-recorded launch.
