BMG has scored its best UK chart tally to date since it returned to the recorded music business, with six of their artists’ albums making the Top 50 in the UK albums chart.
The total is the company’s highest since it re-entered the recorded music business four years ago.
Led by Blondie’s No.4 entry with their latest effort Pollinator, BMG also sees Lovely Creatures – The Best Of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds make the Top 10, coming in at No.8.
US artist LP is at No.17 with Lost On You, while At The Drive-In are at No.30 with Inter Alia.
Meanwhile, Texas’ Jump On Board is at No.31, and Cranberries’ Something Else completes the line-up at No.47.
BMG UK president, repertoire and marketing, Alexi Cory-Smith: “This has been a big week for us with six completely different artists, and we are delighted for all of them. We are lucky in the UK not only to have Korda Marshall and his UK-focused team, but also to be home to Alistair Norbury and our international repertoire hub and Peter Stack and our global catalogue operation. This week’s result is a real example of teamwork. And the good news is this is just the beginning.”
Earlier this week BMG reported it had registered four No.1 albums in just seven days with four different artists across Europe – Texas (France), Kontra K (Germany), Per Gessle (Sweden) and Francesco Gabbani (Italy).
