Apple Music and Spotify have worked to boost their user numbers with family and student plans – now YouTube Music is getting in on the action.
The online giant is introducing new student plans for YouTube Music and YouTube Premium in the UK, providing eligible university students discounted access to music, original series and movies without adverts.
The YouTube subscription student price is £4.99 compared to the standard £9.99. YouTube Premium is reduced from £11.99 to £6.99.
The move comes as Spotify is trialling subscription plans for couples in various territories.
YouTube Music has also been expanding its global footprint with a fully licensed launch in India, a music market with major opportunities for both Western and local DSPs.
